UNV volunteers making a difference in Darfur

El Fasher, Darfur, Sudan: The UNV contribution to the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID)  is underway. About nine months after UNAMID began operations, more than 200 UNV volunteers are in place, and more are scheduled to arrive soon. Read
  International Day of Peace 2008    
Bonn, Germany, September 2008: The International Day of Peace is celebrated on 21 September each year. Though it is the 'Blue Helmets' that are the face of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), behind the scenes are thousands of civilian staff. They are an integral and essential component, supporting rebuilding and reconstruction after conflict.
