Zolotonosha: At the beginning of July, Zolotonosha hosted a preparatory training session entitled “School for Team Leaders" for the volunteers of the social project “Success Workshop”. The training helped 10 girls to prepare for work in a student camp for children from large families in the city. Read

At the end of November and during December 2009, five UN volunteers and two volunteers from Service for Peace conducted painting lessons for the children attending the Integration centre at ROKADA Charity Fund. The centre is functioning with support from UNHCR Regional Representative in Kyiv. Read

And what about my students? It would be great if they could see how wonderful double rainbows, which embrace the world, are when you watch them on a mountain top or in a canoe. And how amazing it is to watch the sunset in the mountains. Then, perhaps, they wouldn't have let small rivers die, mountains and woods sink in litter, trees be uncontrollably cut. Or any other actions which lead to climate change and endanger the life of mankind.

Zhytomir Oblast, Ukraine: The implementation of the 'Youth Social Inclusion for Civic Engagement' project has started at the regional level in Ukraine. The project was launched in September 2008 with the overall objective of supporting youth social inclusion and civic engagement.

The project will develop key social competencies, which are needed for proactive youth involvement in society and decision-making processes, thus providing support to further enhancement of the Government's youth policy in Ukraine.

Kyiv: The first International Volunteer Promotion Campaign was held from August 27 to September 10, 2007, in Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Chernihiv oblasts. During the two week campaign, volunteers from Poland, Serbia, France, Germany, Denmark, Turkey and Japan joined Ukrainian peers to work on solving actual problems of Ukrainian rural communities. The initiative was sponsored by the UN Volunteers Programme and the Ukrainian Association for Youth Cooperation Alternative-V, with additional support from United Nations Development Programme projects “Human Security for Ukrainian Youth” and Chornobyl Recovery and Development Programme (CRDP). Kyiv, Ukraine: On 17 July, the 2007 All-Ukraine "Volunteer of the Year" Contest was launched. The initiative is organised by the Volunteer Centre "Dobra Volia" with support from GURT Resource Centre.

The contest is aimed at public acknowledgment of volunteers' deeds and appreciation of their contribution to community development in Ukraine.
