Cherkassy: From 27 to 31 July, 2009, 24 volunteers ages 16-25 from Cherkasy region worked on the riverside and forested areas along the Dnipro River near the village of Sokyrne in Cherkasy. In this way the organisers, UNDP project “Youth Social Inclusion for Civic Engagement”, Cherkasy Region Youth Resource Centre, Oblast Department of Family, Youth and Sports, and Cherkasy National University, taught  young people about the problems and solutions regarding pollution. Zhytomir Oblast, Ukraine: The implementation of the 'Youth Social Inclusion for Civic Engagement' project has started at the regional level in Ukraine. The project was launched in September 2008 with the overall objective of supporting youth social inclusion and civic engagement.

The project will develop key social competencies, which are needed for proactive youth involvement in society and decision-making processes, thus providing support to further enhancement of the Government's youth policy in Ukraine.
