Kyiv: UN Development Programme and UN Volunteers in Ukraine are hosting the three-day regional workshop for South-East Europe and CIS “Advancing Youth Inclusion, Civic Engagement and Volunteerism towards Achievement of MDGs”, which opened today. Two Hundred Readers Visited the First Living Library in Ukraine

On Sunday, 18th May, 2008, Kiev hosted the opening of the Living Library in Ukraine in Tarasa Shevchenko park. The Library functioned much like a conventional library as we all know it, the only difference – in the Living Library the “books” were human beings, each of them with own life stories to share: adventures, love, incredible dreams and real horrors. Second Volunteerism Promotion Campaign is to take place on 16-31 August

Final Evaluation of UNV Chornobyl Project

Kyiv, Ukraine: With the United Nations Volunteers programme’s support over the last 3 years through the “Volunteers for Participatory Community-Based Development in Chernobyl” project, UNV volunteers have worked with Chernobyl Recovery and Development Programme staff to empower local communities. They have worked on projects to improve local health centres, youth centres, schools, water supplies, gasification systems, among others. Read
