The workshop “promoting volunteerism” took place on 19 November, 2005.

30 youth representatives from different Universities and NGO’s took part in the workshop and had a very active discussion on the following issues:

- Concept of volunteerism

- Awareness of Ukrainian youth about volunteerism

- What are the challenges for a better network of volunteers in Ukraine

- What are MDG’s, what can do volunteers in order to achieve MDGs in Ukraine

- Tolerant attitude toward refugees, who are refugees and how volunteers can help refugees.

All above mentioned discussions were followed up by teambuilding games and presentation of a movie about refugees “global view”.

The outcome of the workshop: Participants obtained required information about volunteerism, had the possibility to gain/share knowledge and experience, they were given hand out materials about volunteerism. Some of the workshop participants have already started their work as volunteers and helped UN Volunteers based in Kyiv with their projects.
